Yeah, same here. I suppose we can be happy with the suggestion that our situation gives us more power through the swing. Despite making this drill nigh on impossible.

Thanks for clearing that up. Good info! Here is a good tip for eveyone. Hit it to the hole. I was trying to do it the way I saw it on TV , youtube, or somewhere on the course. Not everyone hits the ball the same way to be effective. I started playing the ball to the hole and forgetting about mechanics. I took 5 strokes off my game. It was a lot more fun doing it too. Try it! It worked for me.

you can hit the same distance with pitch and chip shots. Stan Utley defines chip shot as a shot that you need to de-loft the clubface to utilized the leading edge of the clubhead, whereas a pitch shot is just like a full shot that you use the sole of the clubhead. If you get low traj and lots of roll you are not hitting the ball solid on the sweet spot. Check your divot it should be infront of the ball not behind it.

geoff ogilvy recommends this!!! he is rated 2nd best on the pga tour for approach shots from 50-75 yards in 2008.

I will never figure this out. LOL What distance are we talking about? What is the difference in a chip shot and a pitch? I have been hitting with all left hand but I do notice low traj and lots of roll. When I start using right hand on any shot I am in danger because I start doing that on every shot. It was a hard habit to break.

This drill will teach you to soften the trailing elbow…which is nice.

Thanks – what if you’re like me (typical Canadian!) and you swing left but are right hand dominant?
